Data Management Plans (DMPs)

Data Management Plans (DMPs) Online

This workshop offers a foundational understanding of research data management and Data Management Plans (DMPs). Geared towards graduate students and faculty researchers, this lecture-style session will guide you in developing responsible data management practices and provide the essential knowledge you need to complete a DMP.

What exactly is a DMP? It's a structured set of 25 questions designed to prompt researchers to think about their research data across their project's lifecycle. By completing a DMP, you'll gain clarity and establish consistent strategies for:

  • How your data will be managed throughout the research lifecycle.

  • Identifying areas for improvement in your current data practices.

  • Ensuring your data is ready for preservation, future reuse, and potential sharing with the wider research community.

Crucial for securing research funding, this workshop will specifically identify which opportunities require a DMP under the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy.

Your full participation in this workshop is important to us. Should you require any accommodations or have questions regarding accessibility, please contact mgrenier@uvic.ca.
