Smartphone Photography

Smartphone Photography In-Person

Note: This workshop will be held in person.

Are you a UVic student, staff, or faculty member and want to learn more about taking better photos with your smartphone? This workshop is a great place to start. Much of what is learned in this presentation and the practice activities can be transferred over to photography with other types of cameras. (Note: As there are several aspects of photography to discuss, the presentation portion of this workshop is longer than many of our other workshops. Additionally, we have found that some attendees prefer leave the workshop and practice the lesson plan activities on their own outside of the workshop time, as they would like to do this in other locations such as the outdoors. The presenter will be available in the space for anyone who would prefer to stay to and ask questions and practice the activities during the workshop time.)

Covered in this workshop:

  • Setting focus and exposure manually in a smartphone camera app

  • Following basic guidelines to improve composition and lighting

  • Use a smartphone app for taking and post-processing photos
