Systematic Reviews Workshop 1: Setting Yourself Up for Success (Online)

Systematic Reviews Workshop 1: Setting Yourself Up for Success (Online) In-Person

This virtual workshop will cover what is needed to plan your systematic review (or other evidence synthesis review) and create a review protocol that can be used to guide you through the review process. This is a hands-on Zoom session where attendees will work on activities, in order to engage with the content and learn the related skills.

Presenters: University of Victoria librarian Dr Zahra Premji & University of Calgary librarian Dr Alix Hayden

Topics to be covered in this session:

  • Defining your question
  • Creating your protocol
  • Picking databases
  • Developing inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Pre-scan of the literature and identifying seed papers
  • Analyzing seed papers
  • Keywords and subject headings

This is the first workshop of a three-part series of workshops on systematic reviews/knowledge synthesis. You are not required to take all three workshops in the series; however the information in the series is scaffolded, so each workshop builds on knowledge learned in the previous workshop. You will need to register for each of the three workshops separately.

Workshop 2: Developing your data collection strategy. March 7th, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
