Introduction to Podcasting In-Person

Are you a UVic student, staff, or faculty member and want to learn more about Podcasting? If so, then this hands-on workshop will give you an introduction to Podcasting using your laptop and Audacity to edit the podcast audio.

Participants will be able to know and do the following by the end of this workshop:

  1. Know best practices for interviewing podcast guests.

  2. Know where to borrow high-quality audio recording equipment on campus.

  3. Know how to record high-quality audio using the Audacity software and a USB microphone.

  4. Be able to trim and split recorded audio.

  5. Be able to find Creative Commons licensed music to use as audio introductions or “bumpers” in a podcast.

  6. Know how to create voiceovers, and fade music in and out in separate audio tracks.

  7. Understand the pros and cons of free and paid podcasting publishing services.

  8. Know how to use Anchor.fm a free podcasting publishing service.

  9. OPTIONAL: Know how to use Zoom.us to record high-quality remote interviews with one or more guests.
