Event Description: In this workshop students will actively engage with AI image generation tools while critically examining the concept of visual authority. The hands-on activities and discussions align with the "Authority is Constructed and Contextual " frame of ACRL's Information Literacy Framework by encouraging students to question traditional notions of visual authority and consider how AI impacts the visual information landscape.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, students will:
- understand the concept of authority as constructed and contextual in visual information
- be able to evaluate the credibility and relevance of different types of visual sources
- develop skills in comparing traditional and AI-generated visual information
- reflect on the impact of generative AI on visual information authority
- consider how to balance AI-generated images with traditional visual sources
