Intro to Machine Learning Online
This workshop for UVic students, faculty, and staff members aims to introduce attendees to the introductory concepts of machine learning. Common algorithms and methods will be discussed and used to process data into a simple classification model. An intermediate Python background is recommended for attendees. At minimum, attendees should have a rudimentary grasp on programming languages, understanding how to generally make use of variables, lists, arrays, slices, and functions. The primary activities involve reading through, editing, and interacting with pre-written machine learning programs. By the end of the tutorial, attendees will have a basic grasp on the rudimentary terms and concepts of machine learning.
Before attending this workshop, you should download Anaconda and get familiar with working in Jupyter Notebook.
