Project management and data management practices for systematic reviews

Project management and data management practices for systematic reviews In-Person

Systematic reviews and other knowledge synthesis reviews are team-based research projects which require a significant time investment and have many stages, such as protocol creation, data collection, study selection, data extraction, synthesis, etc.

The first half of this virtual workshop will introduce you to the principles of project management, and how to plan your review project. We will discuss processes for managing your review and effectively coordinating people, tasks, and timelines.

The second half of the workshop will introduce you to data management planning and its application to knowledge synthesis projects. We will use questions from the Portage DMP Assistant template for systematic reviews to discuss the creation of data management workflows and practices.

*This workshop has a hands-on component. It will be held via Zoom, and will not be recorded.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the triple constraint of project management
  2. Create a work-structure breakdown for a typical systematic review project
  3. Create a Gantt chart for a systematic review project
  4. Explain the basic principles of data management planning as it applies to systematic review projects
