About this event
A visiting delegation of German academic library, archive and information science professionals from across Germany will speak about their work in a series of short talks. Their topics span digital sovereignty, open scholarship infrastructures, and the role of libraries and archives in digital transformation and innovation.

• Silke Clausing: Internationalisation in the Information Management degree program at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts
• Christian Wartena: AI is not magic: teaching LLMs for LIS Students
• Claudia Frick: On the intersection of Climate Science, Science Communication, Library & Information Science and Gender & Queer Studies
• Niklas Hartmann: Digital Sovereignty: What Can a Small University Library Actually Do?
• Lambert Heller: Archives under pressure – towards resilient research (data) infrastructures. What we can learn from the Wiki movement, Data Safeguarding groups and others.
• Ina Blümel: Free and Open Software (FOSS) tool development for OpenGLAM (Galleries, Archives, Libraries, and Museums) communities: Overview and lessons learnt from recent years’ work at the Open Science Lab and student projects at Hannover University of Applied Sciences

Faculty, instructors, grad students, and staff from across campus are welcome to join with their questions, ideas, and their own work in hand. We will provide plenty of room for exchange of ideas and discussion throughout the event. Hot beverages and lunch will be provided.

This Canadian–German research exchange is hosted by UVic Libraries' executive team and the Kula: Library Futures Academy, under the patronage of the German Consulate General in Vancouver. Co-funded by UVic Libraries, Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSH) and TIB Hannover.
