Join us for a 45-minute performance entitled Of Weather Movements as part of artist Paul Walde's Weather Conditions exhibition at the Legacy Gallery Downtown at 630 Yates Street in downtown Victoria. During the performance, the pictures in the exhibition are activated by a team of art-handlers in a performance based on motion picture camera movements and techniques to an original soundtrack in what Walde calls an "image ballet."

Seating is limited to 30 people, with a small number of seats reserved for Elders and guests with accessibility needs, and standing room for 10 people. For specific accessibility concerns, please email legacy@uvic.ca, or feel free to request assistance from event staff at the time of the performance. We will work to ensure that guest needs are met.

About the Exhibition: Paul Walde: Weather Conditions curated by Dr. Carolyn Butler Palmer, brings together two video installations, Of Weather (for Geoff Hendricks), and Tom Thomson Centennial Swim, by interdisciplinary artist and University of Victoria Visual Arts Professor Paul Walde. Prominent within the exhibition are the large-scale photographic prints of cloudscapes from Of Weather. Each artwork in Paul Walde's Weather Conditions documents site-specific performances accompanied by original soundtracks also created by Walde. These works transport weather conditions from their apparent distance in the natural world into the immediacy of the gallery space.

The exhibition runs until April 11th, 2026
