Imprints of Memory: Student Linocut Workshop In-Person

What object, place, or piece of nature reminds you of home?

Join us on Wednesday, April 8th from 11:00am - 12:30pm at the Farallon Book Arts Lab to create your very own linocut stamp and prints!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and carve a small print inspired by memory, community, and the natural world. Before the session, come with a simple image in mind—something meaningful to you, but easy to sketch.

Linocut works best with bold shapes and simple designs, so try to focus on one main object or scene. We’ll guide you through the process of sketching, carving, and printing your own handmade artwork. (Lino blocks will be 4 x 6 inches.)

Heads up: things can get a little messy, so be sure to wear dark clothing!

Ideas for linocut stamps include:

  • a food you grew up eating
  • an object that reminds you of home
  • a plant, shell, or natural place you love
  • a meaningful spot in Victoria
  • something that represents a good memory
