Data Horror Stories: A Survival Guide Online
Government data vanishes. Anonymous data comes back to haunt the researchers. A researcher’s data about spiders is a web of lies. All of these started as normal projects. Would you and your data be smart enough to survive? Learn what happened and walk away with tools to avoid becoming the next cautionary tale.
Audience
This is a casual introductory session for students, researchers, and campus staff looking to strengthen their skills. No prior experience required.
Presenter
Sarah McGill is a Health Data Librarian at UVic with over 20 years experience working with health researchers. I help researchers find the information they need, develop their data skills, and meet grant requirements for research data management plans and data deposit.
Why Data Horror Stories?
Data Horror Stories is the spooky October edition of Love Data Week, an international celebration of finding and managing data. More information is available from ICPSR at the University of Michigan. Please contact Sarah McGill if you’d like to organize a custom session for your class or group.
